Table Rock Trail Experience

  • Challenging Ascent – The trail begins with a moderately challenging climb, which becomes steeper as hikers ascend toward the summit. Sturdy footwear is recommended due to the rocky and uneven terrain.
  • Bugs at the Top -Sometimes the top is covered in bugs. The last time I went, there was a massive party of flies, we tried to ignore them and trek onward. At a certain point, they dissipated.
  • Rock Outcroppings – Throughout the hike, hikers will encounter several rock outcroppings that offer glimpses of the surrounding landscape. These areas provide excellent opportunities to rest and enjoy the views.
  • Summit Views – The final stretch to the summit includes a rocky scramble, but the effort is rewarded with awe-inspiring views. Hikers can see the Linville River winding through the gorge, the dense forests, and the distant mountain ranges. The stretch atop the summit can be dangerous, be sure to stay away from the edge of the gorge.
