Dependable Kayak Under $350 | Pelican Bandit 100 NXT

Today I’m reviewing my wife’s kayak which is the Pelican Bandit 100 NXT. You can get this kayak under $350 in 4 different colors.

Features

The Pelican Bandit 100 NXT is a sit-on-top recreational kayak. It has handles on the front and rear for easy transportation, a built-in seat, 4 separate foot pegs for optional seating, and adequate rear storage space. It’s approximately 10 feet long and weighs 40 pounds with a 300-pound weight limit. Keep in mind, a 40-pound kayak is lighter than the average sit-on-top full-sized kayak.

Rather than bungee cords in the rear like my Pelican Blitz 100X, this kayak has a wide safety net to hold your items in place but is also removable. And this kayak also has a single cup holder.

Performance

Considering its lightweight, twin-arched multi-chine hull, and integrated flotation within the hull of every Pelican kayak; this kayak provides fantastic stability and performance for the reasonable price. It also produces easy tracking as my wife, who’s a beginner, doesn’t have issues keeping it straight while rowing. The overall maneuverability and speed are almost equal to my Pelican Blitz 100X that’s almost $100 more.

Build Quality

Now for the build quality. Here is yet another feature where this kayak exceeds its price. Made with their patented RAM-X™ material, this kayak offers impact-resistant capabilities and is able to last a very long time.

While she hasn’t had any issues with it thus far, my wife has only had this kayak for roughly 6 months and it hasn’t been tested in stressful conditions like my other two. But it feels rugged and doesn’t allow any water to seep inside unlike my Field & Stream.

A few other useful traits are the dual scupper holes in the middle and dual scupper holes in the rear which help drain the water that comes in the boat.

Primary Downside

While this kayak is an outstanding value for the inexpensive price, you’re probably better off getting the Pelican Blitz 100X if you’re planning on fishing. This kayak doesn’t have any fishing rod holders.

Overall | Kayak Under $350

So at the end of the day, the Pelican Bandit 100 NXT is one of the more dependable kayaks you can get at an affordable price below $350. If you’re not planning on fishing, it’s a phenomenal choice. Thanks for reading!
